It's a very simple task and you can do it yourself at any time. Make a file called .forward in your login directory (on the orbhost server). Use the UNIX cmd vi .forward to create that text file. Once in vi, use the cmd i (insert mode) to insert text and write the following line: Use your regular e-mail address where you want your mail to be forwarded. Make sure you follow the syntax in the line above. After you typed that line in, press Esc to exit the insert mode. Then press : to get the cmd line prompt of vi, type the cmd wq after the : and press return, the w will write the file to disk and the q will quit vi, and then to make sure everything went fine, check the presence of the .forward file in your login directory using the cmd ls -a and you should see the file there, if you want to check the contents of that file, to make sure you have no typos, use the cmd more .forward to view the file's contents, you should see your line there... Instead of using vi to make this text file, you can also use pico, it's simpler and more user friendly to use, once you openned the new file with pico .forward, just type the line as explained above and use Ctrl-X to exit, it will ask for confirmation and pressing Y will save the file and exit pico. Example: let's say you are user bob, your address on the orbhost server could be bob@orbhost.net and let's say your ISP is abcdefg and your regular address there is bob@abcdefg.net for example, then your .forward file should contain the line: That's it, your mail arriving on the orbhost server should now go straight to your mailbox at your regular address. If you wish your mail to also stay on the server, add a \ and your username on the orbhost server then a , before your e-mail address to forward your mail to, it should look like this:
That way, your mail will not only be forwarded to your
regular address, but it will also be kept on the
orbhost server so you can read it there too. Be sure
you remember to read it and delete it (on the orbhost
server) to avoid losing too much web space.
