Adobe PageMill upload settings

PageMill and SiteMill on the MacIntosh

On the MacIntosh, the uploads are done with SiteMill, there is no option to "Consolidate" picture files and put them all in the the "images" folder so before uploading the site, SiteMill allows to have a glance at the whole site and correct any links and also allows to check if all the pictures are in the right place, once everything looks fine and no errors are left, the site should be ready for upload, make sure you verify all the preferrences, but the relevant preferrences for upload are as follows in the screen shot:

SiteMill Upload Settings
( Click on the picture for the full size version )

Input the host name as shown above (you must enlarge the picture for readability), your user name and password in the proper fields, the password will show up as dots once entered, and input the name of the target directory, which in this case is "home". Never specify a fully qualified path (one that starts with a / ), chances are it would not work, or if it did, you'd have a hard time to find out where the site ended up and it wouldn't work anyway. A good idea is to turn on the Upload mode "Synchronize" to make sure the image of the site is totally the same as what you have on your end, it will delete any files that became useless if you either removed them from your site or simply renamed them, this will ensure the integrity of your site and also no wasted space due to things left behind that became unused. You can name the host orbhost.net or web.orbhost.net, www.orbhost.net will work just as well, the slash at the end of the directory name will be added if you omit it. A mistake to avoid is to add a backslash after the directory name instead of a forward slash, the server runs Unix and the paths are specified that way and not like the PC, if you're only a Mac user, you shouldn't have a problem because you haven't built up an old habit from using a PC.
