First, you must have a Telnet client (this may have come with your operating system) and have access to the net. Start the Telnet client and set it up to logon to the remote server (or host) named "orbhost.net". Once this setup is done, you will probably not need to do it again. Once your connection to the net is active and Telnet is running, you need to "connect" to the remote server. You will see the unix "login" prompt along with the welcome to orbhost message. Enter your user name, and then at the "password" prompt, enter your password. You are now logged in and in your root directory. You now can look at the files and directories, make new directories, move files from one place to another, change your password or do many other tasks. When you log in the very first time, you are using the temporary password assigned to your account. It is advisable to change your password right away and to make it as difficult to guess as possible, do not use words or any familiar numbers or other combinations that any good hacker could guess. A good password must be cryptic and may contain anything, it should be a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers and other signs like these: !@#$%^&*()_+-=<>/?"'{}[]|\.... just about any ASCII chars will do... When you are done with your work, you logoff by simply
entering "exit" or
typing Ctrl-D. You can then quit your Telnet
client.
